Aftercare Instructions

TATTOO AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS WITH SECOND SKIN BANDAGE

Congratulations on your new tattoo! Proper aftercare is crucial for optimal healing and vibrant color retention. Follow these instructions to ensure a smooth recovery using the Second Skin bandage:

1. Leave the Bandage On:

Keep the Second Skin bandage on for the recommended time provided by your tattoo artist (usually 24 hours up to 7 days). This protective layer shields your tattoo from external contaminants.

2. Clean Hands First:

Before touching your tattoo, wash your hands thoroughly with mild, fragrance-free soap.

3. Gently Remove the Bandage:

Peel off the Second Skin bandage slowly, following the natural direction of your hair growth. If it sticks, dampen the bandage with lukewarm water to ease removal.

4. Cleanse with Mild Soap:

Gently wash the tattooed area with a mild, fragrance-free antibacterial soap and lukewarm water. Use your clean hands, not a cloth or sponge.

5. Pat Dry with a Clean Paper Towel:

After cleansing, pat the tattooed area dry with a clean paper towel. Avoid rubbing, as it may irritate the skin.

6. Reapply Second Skin if Directed:

In some cases, your tattoo artist may advise applying a new Second Skin bandage after cleaning. Follow their specific instructions if this is recommended.

7. Wear Loose, Breathable Clothing:

Choose loose, breathable clothing to prevent friction and irritation on your healing tattoo.

8. Avoid Sun Exposure:

Shield your tattoo from direct sunlight during the initial healing phase. UV rays can cause fading and discomfort.

9. Avoid Submerging in Water:

Refrain from swimming, hot tubs, or prolonged water exposure until your tattoo is fully healed.

10. Resist Itching or Picking:

Itching is a normal part of healing, but resist the urge to scratch or pick at your tattoo. Lightly pat the itchy area if needed.

11. Follow Up with Your Artist:

Attend any scheduled follow-up appointments with your tattoo artist for assessment and additional care instructions.

Remember, every tattoo heals differently. If you have concerns or notice unusual reactions, contact your tattoo artist or seek medical advice promptly.

Enjoy your new ink, and happy healing!
